Exploration into similar triangles through drawing enlargements on an A3 sheet - students can decorate and make patterns etc. This leads into your own teaching about similarity. Then, my Smartboard lesson to summarize the properties of similarity, and how scale factors affect areas and volumes, with a worksheet that goes alongside the presentation. Smartboard objects show nicely how several of the original 2-D or 3-D shapes fit into the enlargement.
