## Solving equations by balancing

These are worksheets which I devised when teaching the balancing method to solve equation for my SEN yr10 group. The numbers are very simple, but they stretch across all possible combinations of operations and negative/positive numbers. There's also a plenary worksheet which I used on the IWB, and then asked the class to finish as homework. It could easily be used with middle/higher sets in KS3. Pls do take the time to leave feedback: thank you!!!

#### 2D shapes displays/cards

I wanted a way to display all geometrical properties of 2D shapes in my class by using the correct symbols - after looking on the web and in books for ages, I had to give in and make my own! They look great on the wall, on a red paper background, and I have noticed students gravitating towards them more and more. I hope this is useful for others too.

#### Tally/bar charts - homework practical activity

I devised this activity for my yr7 class, but it would work just as well in primary school (KS2) when introducing tally charts and bar charts.
I asked the class to record the colour of the first 30 cars they saw on their way home from school, and then make a tally chart and draw a barchart with that information. You can of course adapt it to suit.
Pls do take the time to leave feedback, as s trainee teacher it would be very valuable to know what you think. Thank you!

#### Percentages homework/plenary sheet

8 questions to verify/assess understanding/learning of percentages: calculating simple percentages and using percentages to compare proportions.
I created this worksheet for my L5 yr7 class, but it would be great for bottom sets at KS4 as well.
Please do take the time to leave some feedback, as it would be great to know what more experienced colleagues think of the resources I create. Thank you!

#### Cash for questions revision activity

There are 4 sets of questions (Number, Algebra, Shape, Data) which are mainly A and A* (with some lower grade questions from topics which students struggle with, e.g. percentages, constructions). PLEASE REVIEW / COMMENT. Students work in pairs or small groups to answer the questions. When they finish a question they get it marked and if it is correct they are given cash to the value of the question. There are bank notes which you can put your school name and pictures of your teachers on. The team with the most money at the end could be given a prize.
