We are going to gather small items around the classroom and playground that begin with the phonic sound we are learning in class. We can also pick objects that have that phonic sound in the word name. Some items can be applied to more than 1 sound.
Either way the sound labelled baskets can serve as a visual representation of the sounds being covered in class.
The baskets can be taken out for sound reviewal exercises on a regular basis and/or students could explore the ‘sound baskets’ further during their free play time. The ‘sound baskets’ could be prepared in advance by you before you teach the new sound and then introduced to your young learners as you are giving them an example of words to associate the new sound with.
