Spanish Science Experiment documents

I adapted this lesson for French and did it with a lower Year 9 group during science week. They were really engaged and enjoyed the content as well as the French. I did a starter where I gave them all a large version of an item of vocab from the lesson, they found the English and wrote it next to it. We then stuck these up in the classroom so that they could easily refer to them in the lesson. Students proudly became the "expert" or reference point for that particular vocab item and were questioned on it throughout the lesson. Dropping water onto the penny was particularly impressive (Extra activity) In consultation with the science dept, we did an additional expt where you float a small piece of splint in a tray of water and it will naturally stay still (equal forces from all directions). If you put a droplet of washing up liquid behind the splint, it shoots off in the other direction. (and shows how detergent breaks the surface tension) I was really impressed with this as it shows how easily man can affect the fragile ecosystem for "water walking insects" and gave the expt real relevance.
