I have created these reading comprehension texts and questions to support Year 5 pupils while developing their understanding of spatial sense and geometry.

The pack includes a mix of fiction and non-fiction texts designed to give children varied reading experiences while reinforcing key mathematical concepts. Each text links to important knowledge from the maths curriculum but can also be used as a stand-alone comprehension activity for English lessons.

What’s included:

A range of high-quality texts (both fiction and non-fiction)

Question sets focusing on key reading skills: retrieval, inference, vocabulary, explanation, and summarising

SEND-friendly sheets to support accessibility and differentiation

How to use:
These comprehension activities are perfect for whole-class reading, guided reading groups, or independent comprehension practice. They are ideal for linking mathematics with literacy, helping pupils engage with spatial reasoning concepts through reading.
