This is a whole lesson on Spearman’s rank Correlation Coefficient including a PowerPoint and accompanying worksheets and exam questions for students. The lesson looks at why it is used, how to calculate it and how to interpret the results to draw a conclusion. This lesson is ready to go, with little preparation required. It is intended that students will collect their own data using holly leaves as these are reasonably abundant – if these are not available the students could still complete it with exemplar data. The resource comes with a 32-slide presentation, a matching student worksheet and examination questions (with answers on the teacher PowerPoint) and an excel file to support.
It includes:

  • lesson objectives
  • Explanation of how to select and use an appropriate statistical test
  • Excellent Teaching slides (with very clear steps on how to calculate and interpret the data)
  • Several examples
  • Key examination questions
  • Excel workbook to support the teacher
  • Student Handout (which follows the teacher PowerPoint)
  • Worksheet - exam questions with answers
  • Extension task
