Let me know if this is useful - we do it every week and I have done for the past 5 or 6 years, the kids love it. I put a timer up on the IWB and they record the time. DNF time at approx 7-8 mins at start of year, achievable for most Y5s. After a couple of weeks you'll be surprised how quick they get. Record for my kids is 1 min 14 secs! After a few weeks will only take about 5 mins to do with a class, you can jumble up numbers or give out a 5 x 5 grid, anything really. I must be old fashioned as I'm a big supporter of this kind of rehearsal for times tables...

have used speed tables for years (called them Beat the Clock) but like the idea of using your table where they're 'in order' first to introduce them how to fill in the grid.
