Spelling List Tracker (Phonics to GCSE)

A fully customisable spelling tracker to help you teach and monitor students’ spelling progress.

The tabs along the bottom of the Excel spreadsheet organise word sets by increasing difficulty: beginning with Phase 1 phonics (RWI), moving through KS1 and KS2, and reaching KS3 level. At the end, there’s an additional section for subject-specific vocabulary in preparation for GCSE.

You can add, edit, or remove words/sets as needed. Sets are grouped either phonetically or alphabetically.

All word sets are based on DfE guidance, with links to Read Write Inc. for early years and aligned with the Pearson Edexcel Entry Level 1–3 specifications.

This tracker is appropriate for all school phases as it covers all abilities: reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, Year 11, SEND. Phonics, CVCs, to GCSE language
