The Statutory Word Lists for Years 3–6 form an important part of the National Curriculum in England. This workbook has been designed to help pupils learn, practise and apply these words in their everyday reading and writing. The lists include words that are often tricky to spell, words with unusual patterns, and words that pupils will use regularly across different subjects.

Through a range of activities, pupils will explore the meaning, structure and spelling of these words. They will practise strategies such as breaking words into syllables, using prefixes and suffixes, and applying spelling rules in context. The workbook is organised in manageable sections so that pupils can focus on a small set of words each week, making the learning progressive and achievable.

By working through these statutory word lists, pupils will develop spelling accuracy, improve their writing fluency, and build a stronger vocabulary. This will support not only their English learning but also their confidence across the curriculum.
