Stages of an Investigation uses stage cards and a line-segment investigation to discuss patterns, rules, testing and prediction. Area Investigation asks students to order cards and test whether rectangles with the same perimeter have the same area. Both plans include organisation, instructions, answers and extension suggestions.

Three resource pages provide the cards for these two activities. The sample also includes the title, introduction, contents, general guidelines and lesson-plan section pages. Activities are intended for mixed-ability Year 7 groups; print and cut out the cards before use.
