This resources includes five starters for poetry lessons. The starters will put pupils into the mindset of studying poetry in terms of language, themes, rhyme and rhythm.
The starters can be done individually, in pairs, groups or as a class.
Mini whiteboards would be a helpful way of jotting down ideas during the starters.
They could also be used as plenaries.
Each starter lasts between 5-10 minutes.
