Seven introductory resource pages in this free 10-page sample from Starting Points: English Language, including work-log guidance and a reusable work-log sheet.

Putting It Together and Putting It Together 2 explore recording and organising information. Why Do We Write? asks students to examine everyday writing. An Assignment page guides a survey of people’s writing at work, and Get the Message? compares the information conveyed by a recipe and a note.

The sample also includes the title, introduction and contents. The full pack’s separate teachers’ notes are not included; use the resource pages with teacher guidance and discussion. These are introductory materials for KS4 students who need support with written and spoken English.

The full 51-page PDF contains 40 resource pages and eight pages of teachers’ notes, extending to creative writing, speaking, opinions and review.

The preview images illustrate the full pack and include pages beyond this sample. This is the original scanned 1989–1991 publication, with historical GCSE coursework references retained without a claim of current specification alignment.
