Read a short message, work out what the speaker means and shoot the matching answer. Subtext Invaders combines inference practice with a playable arcade shooter across 15 dialogue waves.
The messages ask players to look beyond the literal words and consider tone, context and implied meaning. Correct targets earn points; incorrect targets lead to feedback and another attempt. Each message appears before the action begins and can be read again.
Arrow keys move the ship and Space fires. On-screen controls, direct aiming buttons and a slow mode are also included. Designed for KS3 English, including Year 8.
Includes a downloadable HTML game with save and load controls. Open the game file in a modern browser on a desktop or laptop computer. No Padlet account, app installation or internet connection is needed to play. This is a single-player game; live teacher monitoring is not included.
