Author Susan Straight reads an original essay and reflects on Adams's work on the occasion of the exhibition Robert Adams: The Place We Live, a Retrospective Selection of Photographs, on view at LACMA through June 3rd, 2012. Straight is a lifelong Riverside resident and an award-winning author of seven novels. The Southern California landscape, which Straight has called 'the language I knew from birth,' figures prominently in her work.
