Human energy usage is vital to our daily lives. But what is energy? Energy makes things happen, but is hard to define because it comes in many forms. This Chapter explores where we get energy, describes how it is stored, and provides exciting examples of its use in our world.

Targets:

  • Students meet the concept that energy is never created or destroyed, only transformed

  • Students participate in the Energy Mapping Challenge

  • Students learn how energy is transferred through: (1) the formation of the universe, (2) the human body

  • Students identify different forms of energy, e.g. electricity
