This lesson explores the extent to which the federal government advanced African American civil rights from 1865-1992. The lesson focuses on exam style questions for the OCR syllabus and how to answer them. The lesson is approximately 1hr 30mins and timings are included in the notes section of the PowerPoint. The lesson includes the following activities: discussion starter, example essays analysis, living graph (which students’ will have to draw themselves) activity, plenary judgement question. Differntiation is included in this lesson in the form of an all, most, some activity and an extension task.

NOTE it is recommended that students should have prior knowledge of the civil rights movement in America in order to complete this lesson.
