The Handmaid's Tale: Historical Context

An IB lesson on historical context in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, particularly focusing on second wave feminism and the Christian right wing.

All resources needed for the lesson are attached as separate handouts or put at the beginning of the powerpoint.

There is a carousel activity included; you will need to print out the information sheets and stick them round the room before your lesson.

Please note this lesson contains potentially distressing information on abortion, which while it is necessary context for the novel, shouldn’t be used for younger years.
