This lesson covers everything you need to know about the Heart. It outlines the importance of our hearts and how we can measure our pulse using different methods. There is a whole class experiment, which demonstrates how the heart pumps blood around the body in a fun and practical way! This resource includes a group activity involving labeling the different parts of the heart. The group activity is called ‘Raise your Heart Rate’ where the pupils have to move to collect the key vocabulary from around the room and then measure their heart rate at the end of the game. The activity for books at the end of the lesson includes: labeling a heart diagram and writing a summary of how the heart works. This lesson is perfect for prior knowledge about the heart before teaching The Circulatory System in the next lesson.
