10 Lessons – Complete Anglo-Saxon and Norman England Scheme – All Resources Ready to Use
Dear Colleague,
This full 9-lesson scheme takes students on a structured journey through 1066 and the Norman Conquest, from the succession crisis to William’s consolidation of power.
Students explore the events leading to the invasion of England, the battles of 1066, and the political, military and social changes that followed. Each lesson carefully combines secure historical knowledge with original sources, encouraging students to analyse evidence while steadily developing structured written responses.
Three tasks of increasing difficulty. The first two tasks are designed for group or whole-class assessment, focusing on retrieval, discussion and source analysis. The final task in each lesson is an individual written response aligned with GCSE-style frameworks, allowing opportunities for one-to-one support and targeted feedback.
Across the ten lessons, students cover :
England in 1066,
The Battle of Stamford Bridge
The Battle of Hastings
William’s immediate problems after victory
The Norman Conquest
The Feudal System
The Harrying of the North
The Norman castle
The Domesday Book.
