The Open Window + After Twenty Years — Two-Lesson EAL Unit

Two complete lessons in one pack — Saki’s The Open Window and O. Henry’s After Twenty Years, the two cleanest twist endings in the canon, taught side by side so the second lesson pays off the first.

WHAT’S INCLUDED — 52 files, 395 pages
• Lesson 1 — The Open Window: the flagship unit on the unreliable narrator
• Lesson 2 — After Twenty Years: O. Henry’s twist, taught as a companion
• Both stories in full, each with a complete EAL edition rewritten at an accessible level — the same lesson for every reader, not a cut-down one
• Two narrated retellings of The Open Window (MP3): Easy English and B1. After Twenty Years has lesson and assessment materials but no audio in this pack.
• Four teaching slide decks (PPTX, 85 slides total) — unit opener, both lessons, and a sentences-and-conjunctions deck
• Student workbooks for both lessons
• Knowledge organiser, vocabulary pack, technique posters
• End-of-unit exam
• Answer keys kept in a separate, clearly labelled “TEACHER ONLY” folder — the student files are safe to hand out as they are

HOW IT SUPPORTS EAL LEARNERS
The original texts, plus Easy English and B1 retellings of The Open Window and two levels of audio for it, so a mixed-proficiency class reads the same stories at the same time. Print-ready; nothing needs an account or an internet connection.

Single-teacher licence.
