The Snail and the Whale is a great book to use in Key Stage One and is perfect to use alongside the end of KS1 reading framework. This download contains a range of printable activities and assessments that can be used to help you assess your Year 2 children against the end of KS1 framework statements. There are resources to assess children working at Working Towards, Expected and Greater Depth standards.

This download requires no prep and is perfect to use in your Year 2 classroom at different points of the school year. You may want to use these resources as part of your Guided Reading lessons, in small groups, provision, as homework, morning/afternoon work or just for assessment purposes by turning the activities into mini assessment booklets.

You can pick and choose the activities that you think will work best for your children, by simply printing your chosen activities. There are teacher notes included which you may find beneficial when assessing your students. You can easily differentiate this resource by picking activities from working towards, expected or greater depth. You can differentiate further by having students work collaboratively, in small groups or with an adult.
