The Soldier - Rupert Brooke - World War 1 Poetry

3 lessons looking at ‘The Soldier’ by Rupert Brooke. This includes a PowerPoint that covers all 3 lessons, a blank copy of the poem, poetry analysis task cards, and P.E.T.A.L. sentence starters.

Lesson 1 – Analysis of the poem - this can be done as guided analysis as a whole class or using the task as a group task
Lesson 2 – Analytical paragraph (including P.E.T.A.L. recap)
Lesson 3 – Creative task based on the poem

Lessons 2 and 3 contain a differentiated success criteria. These lessons were used with a Year 9 class but could be adapted depending on age and stage.
