6 week unit on the space race. Week 1: Origins of the space race and early achievements (Sputnik 1). Week 2: Sputnik 2, Laika, Yuri Gagarin, first woman in space, JFK speech. Week 3: First space walk, some early disasters, first rendezvous, first lunar orbit. Week 4: The Moon landing. Week 5: Apollo 13, space stations. Week 6: Mars, deep space, space tourism.
