  • Reading and comparison exercise to identify similarities and differences between Monmouth’s Rebellion and the Glorious Revolution.
  • Analysis of a colour coded Stuart family tree to establish why the birth of James Francis Stuart (the Old Pretender) caused the Glorious Revolution.
  • Source analysis exercise on the reliability of the ‘warming pan baby’ theory.
  • Plenary conclusion with secondary historian’s views to acting as stimulus on whether students agree that James II was a tyrant who deserved to be removed from power.
