As teachers we find ourselves telling students to revise all the time but it’s very rare that we actually teach students how to revise. Over the last few years I have researched revision methods of a huge number of students of different ages to find the best methods and those that didn’t work so well. Using the results of my research I have produced the ultimate revision plan that maximises retention of knowledge and encourages students to keep revising even when the going gets tough.
The ultimate revision plan has sessions of three different lengths for students of different ages; the youngest should follow the shortest plan and as age goes up, so should the length of the revision session. It is applicable to all subjects and all levels of study.
