
This game is designed to be taught as part of a KS3 geography unit on Africa, but it is appropriate for students studying development too. It focuses on the physical and human barriers to development for some African countries. The game is designed to draw attention to the uneven nature of development and introduce the different barriers and setbacks that some countries face.
The resource includes the lesson powerpoint and a word document with the country cards and game statements. All game instructions are in the notes on the ppt. There is a template slide if you want to add your own countries too.
The game and reflection should take about 30 minutes, and then the consolidation activity can be done for the remaining 30 minutes.
