Idea: pupils pair up and test each other on a particular times table, recording (on their partner’s sheet) only the facts which are recalled quickly and easily. Next session, re-test and circle new facts which have been learnt (and cross through facts which were circled last session). As they progress, certain specific facts come up as needing learning.
