I used this 147 slides ppt with all the resources to cover 6-7 weeks of work with low ability y.7. It includes a variety of descriptive, persuasive tasks e.g diary entry, menu and other posters, a recount (I used this one as an assessment), persuasive letter, grammar (relative clauses, FANBOYS, time clauses, emotive language, adjectives, metaphors, similes, personification, adverbs. Videos embeded within + in the resources - used for as a writing prompt. This could easily be used for primary schools too. All the worksheets included.
