Thank you for looking at my resource.
In this resource children will focus on the importance of a verb in a sentence.
Children will do a variety of carefully thought out small step tasks to build up their understanding of what a verb is and how to apply verbs to sentences.
Resource includes a PPT and corresponding task sheets.
Children will start by completing a rewind task (task based on prior learning) which will involve children recapping on what a noun is and identifying the nouns shown in a picture.
Children will then complete a task which will not only teach that a sentence must contain a verb but illustrate the importance of verbs n a sentence. The task will involve a identifying a picture with a sentence that only provides a noun.
After this children, will look at the definition of a verb. Children will match verbs with a picture and then will play a game called Royal Punctuation (only giving the royal full stop to sentences containing verbs)
Children will complete independent/helping hands task 1 - Tick the sentences containing a verb. As with all tasks, a chilli challenge is provided to all learners to expand their learning.
Children will then move onto writing verbs into sentences where they need to fill the gap in. Children will complete independent/helping hands task 2.
Finally, children will be provided with a picture of a beach and a noun word bank. They will start by creating sentences with a partner then move onto independent/helping hands task 3.
