Each year several hundred thousand tourists take the boat cruise down the River Li in south-west China. Through photographs and some description you can take this cruise and discover why it is so popular with Chinese and overseas tourists. The reasons are on display in the photographs as they provide the spectacular landscape and the range of daily activities in and along the banks of the River Li. The unique physical landscape is covered in another unit which has a focus on “The Karst Towers of South-west China”. Screen this unit page by page and provide students with the fill-in attachment photograph interpretation pages (either colour or black and white. Some questions may require discussion and assistance but most answers are provided by the photographs. Enjoy the journey. Most tourists remember this area as a highlight of their tourism.
