These two lessons are part of a poetry unit. The objective is to analyse Michael Rosen’s Strict poem and use this as an exemplar to write another poem which uses hyperbole effectively. This is meant to be a fun but purposeful way to introduce the class to poetry. Here is an overview of the two lessons:

  1. Read Strict, analyse the poem and plan the new poem in groups.
  2. Write the new poem and perform in front of the class.

(I have included notes for any slides that you may not find to be self-explanatory).
