UFLI Foundations Decodable Passages | Lessons 35–67 | Digraphs + VCe

A 33-passage decodable reading pack for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade phonics — one original passage for every UFLI Foundations lesson 35 through 67. Covers FLOSS rule, all digraphs (ck, sh, th, ch, wh, ph, ng, nk), VCe patterns (a_e, i_e, o_e, e_e, u_e), soft c and g, suffixes (-es, -ed, -ing), and compound words. Strict cumulative decodability — every word uses only the graphemes taught up to that lesson, plus a small set of pre-taught heart words listed on each page. Three comprehension questions per passage span literal recall, inference, and personal reflection.

Most “decodable” passages on TPT include words students haven’t been taught to decode yet. These don’t.

One original decodable passage for every UFLI Foundations lesson 35–67 — 33 passages, all written from scratch to match UFLI’s exact grapheme-by-grapheme progression. Every word in every passage is either fully decodable using only the sounds taught up to that lesson, or listed as a “tricky word” at the bottom of the page so you know to pre-teach it. This Phase 2 pack picks up where Phase 1 leaves off. Phase 1 covers the alphabet and short vowels (Lessons 1–34); Phase 2 covers the FLOSS rule, all digraphs, VCe patterns, soft c and g, the most common suffixes, and compound words (Lessons 35–67). Each passage comes with three comprehension questions calibrated to different thinking levels: a literal RIGHT THERE question, an inferential THINK & SEARCH question, and a reflective ON YOUR OWN question. The Teacher Reference appendix at the back of the pack gives you the literal answer for Q1 and an inferential hint for Q2 for every single lesson — so you can run small groups without re-reading every passage yourself first.
