A very detailed and comprehensive six-week unit of work designed to improve the way students respond to unseen poetry.

Using poems that deal with the themes of inequality, nature, family, childhood and more, each week explores a different poem, encourages students to pick the poems apart and write about them, before having a go at writing their own poem in this style, with the additional objective of creating an anthology of their own poetry.

You will find sample assessment questions with model responses, as well as a final assessment task complete with a marking sheet and indicative content.

This unit would work well for any GCSE class, but could also be used as a Year 9 preparatory unit.
