28 history worksheets with facing teachers’ notes, general guidelines and a data-record page in a 61-page PDF developing evidence-handling skills at KS3.

Activities explore what evidence is, how to classify and gather it, and how historians assess books, paintings, photographs, newspapers, oral accounts, buildings, street names, maps, family records, local history and clothing.

Students compare sources, consider reliability, interpret clues and explain conclusions through discussion, investigation and written responses. Teachers’ notes provide aims, preparation, classroom approaches, evaluation and extensions where relevant. Some investigations and extension tasks need local material or additional sources.

Use worksheets separately or follow the progression into more complex evidence. Designed for KS3 students of varied abilities.

This is the original 1999 publication. Its National Curriculum study-unit and attainment-level references, including the record grid, reflect historical arrangements and do not imply current curriculum alignment.
