Bring a touch of mystery and excitement to your reading area with this villain-themed reading display. Perfect for encouraging children to explore stories from a different perspective, this engaging display celebrates some of children’s most memorable villains and baddies.

This resource includes:

  • Link to customise through Canva
  • Beware of the Villains title
  • Six villain wanted posters featuring Curious George, Evil Pea, The BFG Giants, Big Bad Wolf, Goldilocks, Mouse
  • Six bookshelf labels that make children question the villains motives
  • Footprint decorations
  • Claw mark decorations
  • Book recommendation list

For my own display, I arranged the Beware of the Villains title, wanted posters, claw marks, footprints, and images of popular children’s books featuring villains around the display area to create a dramatic crime scene inspired theme. The bookshelf labels were attached to relevant books to help pupils discover stories featuring these well-known characters, but also to help the chidren question these character’s motives. Was The Big Bad Wolf really in the wrong?

To make the display even more eye-catching, I created a 3D jail cell on the windowsill and placed soft-toy villains inside. This proved to be a great talking point and encouraged children to discuss their favourite characters and stories.
