Visual comprehensions to aid in children developing their retrieval, inference, prediction, vocabulary, explanations and summary skills in a different, engaging way.

Following on from a fellow teacher’s resources, which I used and loved, I started creating my own visual comprehensions using trailers of films, TV series and adverts that I enjoyed and thought my classes would enjoy too. They include film, TV and advertisements from the past few years with a wide variety of genres. All the questions relate to VIPERS and will help children with their ‘reading’ skills. In an age of using short films in English writing and wanting to expose the children to different types of media, these visual comprehensions have had a real impact on their understanding and interest in films.

There are nearly 100 visual comprehensions to choose from and adapt as you see fit. There aren’t any answers, but once you’ve watched the trailer through, you’ll easily spot them. Some questions are open for discussion too.
