This Causes of World War II lesson investigates whether the British policy of Appeasement in the 1930s was a mistake. Students will analyse reasons for it being the right policy to follow and for it being a mistake. Students will take the opinions of David Low, Chamberlain and Churchill into consideration also by looking at quotes, sources and a video.

This download includes a fully editable powerpoint with all activities, instructions, clip links and worksheets/information sheets you need. It is fully planned with plenty of activities for your students to complete including:

  • a settler Do Now activity
  • clip questions/activities
  • source analysis
  • an information sheet with activities
  • mini-plenaries
  • a consolidation written question
  • a plenary.

Activities are planned to encourage thinking and discussion.
