Lesson 1 - Free - L1 - Why and Where Is There Water in the World?

This Scheme of Work has been created to meet the teaching requirements of the new NSW Geography 7-10 Syllabus (2024), which is being implemented from 2027.

This SoW is detailed, differentiated and engaging, allowing teachers to move students through the content efficiently while developing geographical knowledge, data interpretation, geographical inquiry and extended writing. Lessons use a consistent I Do, We Do, You Do structure and include retrieval practice, explicit instruction, structured discussion and independent application.

The complete unit contains 17 lesson sequences:

L8 - What Are the Impacts of Water Scarcity on Developed Countries?
L9 - How Can Water Insecurity Cause Conflicts?
L10 - What Ways Can Water Scarcity Be Managed?
L11 - What Are the Large-Scale Methods of Managing Water Insecurity?
L12 - What Small-Scale Ways Are There of Managing Water Insecurity?
L13 - How Do El Niño and La Niña Affect Australia?
L14 - How Are El Niño, La Niña and Climate Change Causing Hazards in Australia?
L15 - How Can a River’s Catchment Area Be Managed?
L16 - What Are the Causes, Effects and Responses to Water Scarcity in Sydney?
L17 - How Can Water Be Managed Sustainably in a World of Increasing Demand and Scarcity?
