Biological, chemical and physical weathering are examined using KS2 friendly language and terminology. Simple experiments using eggs, sandpaper, steel wool and vinegar provide children with an opportunity to recreate each form of weathering and interpret their effects on particular rocks. Learning is applied to the selection of the most desirable site and the paramount choice of rock type for a gravestone.

Wolverhampton University students have designed these original illustrations, which engage and encourage children’s interest.
