This comprehensive English resource is based on the popular novel “Sky Hawk” by Gill Lewis and provides a week’s worth of engaging lessons.

Using colourful semantics, the resource focuses on improving learners’ sentence structure and writing skills. The cycle of work leads to the creation of a diary entry as Iona, with a particular focus on developing three essential skills including; fronted adverbials, consistent use of past tense, and subordinate clauses (this can differentiated). In addition, the resource provides opportunities for learners to develop their understanding of the challenges faced by endangered animals.

In week three of the cycle, students will delve deeper into the minds of the characters, enabling them to authentically plan and write their own diary entry. To provide valuable support and scaffolding, the resource includes a planning template that guides students through the process and helps organise their ideas. To add a touch of creativity, the resource also includes an osprey-themed writing page border, providing a beautiful platform to showcase learners’ completed work.
