What are the Colons and the Dashes in the Bible?
The Colons are called in Hebrew Nequdatayim -- two dots. They mark the end of the verse. There is another way to know where the end of the verse is located. (This is part of the cantilation = Teamim). The Dash (encircling= linking) - form a phonetic unit. It affects the stress and may affect the vowel pointing. It appears many times, after mono syllabic words.
