This resource is a fun lesson for ESL (English as a second language) students that focuses on grammar structures -

  • 'Its a kite/doll/plane
  • Plural
  • How many/have

Slide 2 - Go through each flashcard and read aloud together then choose individual students at random. Practice again altogether using low voice/high voice/whisper/shout etc
Slide 3 - Missing toy, students to memorise the toys on the board, one will disapper first student to put hand up and state wins (could split class into teams to make more competitive)
Slide 4 - Broken telephone game
Slide 5 - Conversation activity - practice in pairs then choose a few students to come to the front to present
Slide 6 - Question and answer - students to ask one another question
Q: What toys do you like?
A: I like __ s
Slide 7 - Act it out, put students into teams one student at the front to act it out first team to guess wins extend by giving whiteboards to each student and then have to spell the word
Slide 7 - Grammar structures (higher level)
“How many kites do you have”
“I have one kite/two kites”

Extension ideas

  • Students can make their own comic strips using the grammar learnt.
  • Give an A4 picture of a bedroom and sentences, students then have to draw. For example, I have 3 kites (draw 3 kites in the bedroom, I have 2 balls under my bed)
  • Pictionary - student draws the picture on the board and others guess.
