Whole Class Reading planning unit: Tyger

5 days Whole Class Reading planning based on Tyger by S. F. Said aimed at year 5 and 6 but could be easily adapted for year 4.

Resource includes: daily powerpoint slides; extract for the children (1 page a day); three days of questions (using the skills: retrieve, infer and define); a weekly task; a weekly sequencing task; a title for Reading books; a planning outline; and daily new vocabulary.

Everything you need to teach 5 daily reading lessons. Each lesson lasts approximately 25 - 30 mins. Every lesson has been taught to a mixed year 5/6 class.

This structure of teaching reading has had a significant impact across school which has been shown in attainment, the confidence of children when they are reading and promoting a love of reading.
