Why do people live near volcanoes?

author avatar

Created bywgenterprise

This lesson addresses the question of why people choose to live close to volcanoes if they are so destructive. It uses Iceland as a case study and is illustated with photographs taken by the author. As an activity the students can use the letter templates to explain to someone in another country the benefits and dangers of living in a volcanic region.

Thank you, this was a really useful resource. We adapted it for use with a Y4 class, who produced their own videos and letters in response. Highly recommended.
