Wilfred Owen The Next War - Personification Workshop

This is designed for use after a class analysis and study of the poem ‘The Next War.’

It is a mini skills workshop using an excerpt of the poem as a mentor text for teaching and practising writing personification. Students examine the text, identify the personification and then try to create their own examples. I have my students read their work out to the class at the end and find ways of rewarding the work.

This is an editable document so that you can add or adjust things as needed to suit your class. You could use the same excerpt for workshopping tone, ambiguity and more.
