By 2050 onshore wind turbines will be creating 5, 500 gigawatts -TEN times more than today and cut around 15% of our current greenhouse gas emmissions…
They ‘spoil’ the countryside and cheaper to maintain than the wind turbines out at sea.
By 2050 both of them will probably have increased in size and efficiency.
The blades are large and are a danger to wild life especially bats and birds
Hubert Lagrange, a Frenchman, founded** Sens of Life,** an engineering consultancy which is dedicated to providing protection solutions for bats, birds and the wind industry. Ultrasound detectors are deployed to scan for bats. This is combined with weather data and knowledge of their behaviour. It is possible using artificial intelligence to slow the blades down to a ‘bat safe’ speed in 15 seconds. Sens of life claims only 1% of production is lost.
