Winter — Free Sample: 60 Learning Activities for Ages 6–12

Why does snow melt faster in some places? Do more animal tracks always mean more animals? What happens when a thaw is followed by frost?

Turn children’s winter questions into a game of observation, discovery and reasoning. This free sample includes 60 activities — one sixth of the 360 tasks in the complete Winter set.

What’s included?

2 illustrated A4 activity grids with 30 tasks each.

2 difficulty levels: easy for ages 6–8 and advanced for ages 9–12.

1 game board with 40 spaces.

Answers and suggested responses to all 60 tasks.

Instructions for playing with the grids and the board, including a cooperative option.

At the easy level, children name winter signs, complete sentences, check statements, find clues and explain everyday observations.

At the advanced level, they suggest possible explanations, make predictions, question claims, connect evidence and plan investigations.

Open-ended questions leave room for different well-reasoned answers. Children can respond aloud, draw their ideas or dictate to an adult.

Use the sample for science lessons, speaking activities, pair work, small groups or learning at home. Print the grids on A4 or display them on a screen. Add a six-sided die and, for the board game, playing counters.

All questions, rules and answers are in English.

Download the free sample, try both levels and discover how a roll of the die can start a thoughtful conversation about winter.

Want to keep exploring? The complete Winter set includes 12 illustrated activity grids, 360 tasks, answers and game boards.
