This unit is designed as an eleven-day, approximately 55 minute long lessons for middle school, and the duration may be easily adjusted to accommodate your own schedule.

This unit is carefully designed to be NGSS-aligned and to provide your students with the opportunity to:

There are lesson plans for each of the 11 days as well as a section for teacher reflection at the end of the day. I have also included a unit overview for quick reference. Please see the preview for sample lesson plans.

  1. PowerPoint Presentations

The PPT has 100+ slides that cover all the content knowledge and have teacher notes and guidelines. They are beautifully designed with clear fonts and pictures.

  1. Worksheet

There are worksheets for individual or group practice and assessment in each lesson. The worksheets may be printed and distributed to students during class. I have included ANSWER KEYS to all of them.

  1. Assessment

a) End of unit test:

The final test includes some 20 multiple-choice questions worth 20 points and 6 written response questions worth 30 points ( 5 points for each question), totalling 50 points.

b) Group work

The teacher may determine how many points to award for group work, such as the roller coaster model building, presentations, and games.

c) Individual work

Most of the lessons come with individual worksheets that can be graded. The teacher may determine how many points to award to each question on each worksheet.

  1. Required Materials

For most of the lessons, the teacher will need:

a) to print out worksheets for individual practice.

b) access to a computer to open the PPT slides.

c) projector

In some cases, such as the roller coaster STEM challenge and the energy transformation station activity, additional materials will be needed. I have included the material list on the PPT slides as well as the pdf file.
