The Cave Settlements of Mesa Verde generally fascinate students. The location, the discovery, the survival changes, the architectural achievements and the abandonment are all stories within the wider story of an Indian tribe which in themselves remain a mystery. This units can be approached in several ways. You can screen each page and discuss the visual material. You can screen the pages and gather notes about the written material. You can screen the pages and use the attachments as summary checks. Your students will understand why the Cave Settlements of Mesa Verde are listed as a World Heritage Site. This unit recognises the skills of researchers in re creating the changes in the survival skills of the Anasazi (unknown) Indians who constructed the multi-storied stone buildings in the caves. It should not be difficult to find interest in this unit.
