The Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Ecuador contain some of the unique species of wildlife. These islands intrigued the naturalist, Charles Darwin, during his visit to the islands in 1835. His observations formed a significant part in his “Origin of Species” publication. Take your students to these islands and discover why they meet 3-4 of the criteria need to gain World Heritage status. For further analysis on Galapagos you could look at the titles “Darwin’s Theory of Evolution” and “Strange animals on the Galapagos Islands”.
